About Stork
The Story of Stork
The birth of Stork originated from the embarrassing experiences of its founder, Dr. Xu Cui.
When Xu was a graduate student at Baylor College of Medicine, he often encountered situations where his lab colleagues were enthusiastically discussing a paper in their field while he looked completely clueless — because he had no idea about the paper at all. Looking it up on PubMed later, he would discover the paper had actually been published a year ago. An even more embarrassing example was when he didn't even know that his own advisor had published a paper. This made his advisor so frustrated that he specifically asked Xu to print out and read all the papers published by the lab.

Years later, Xu developed Stork, which completely solved this problem. He input all the keywords and researcher names he could think of into the system, and then didn't need to worry about anything else. Stork automatically searches every day and sends him the results. Now he's always the first in the lab to know things like "David Boas published a new paper" or "someone used NIRS for hyperscanning again." He feels confident.
Xu made Stork freely available to his colleagues and classmates, and through word of mouth, more and more people started using it. Later, Stork gradually added a series of advanced features, such as translating papers into users' native languages, using AI to polish manuscripts, and using AI to write papers. These features make the entire research process — from tracking literature to reading papers to writing manuscripts — much more efficient for researchers.
The Origin of the Name "Stork"
When the Stork tool was being used within a small circle, Xu, then already a postdoc at Stanford, discussed with his colleague about what to name it. At that time, a postdoc named Joe suggested using "Stork" because in Western culture, storks bring babies to newlywed couples. Everyone thought this was a great name: researchers face massive amounts of literature every day, and finding useful papers for themselves is as challenging as finding their own baby. Stork, like the legendary bird, delivers the most relevant papers to researchers on time.
